VfL Bochum has presented its fourth free transfer signing for the upcoming season. On Wednesday, the second-division club announced the signing of former Werder Bremen player Jean Manuel Mbom (26). Three years ago, the native Göttinger left Bremen for the Danish club Viborg FF. There, the contract of the right-back expires. "Jean Manuel brings a great package: He is very flexible, can play both in the center on the six or eight as well as on the right side," emphasized Simon Zoller, Director of License Football at VfL Bochum, in a club statement. "We were also convinced by his dynamism and speed – and not least the experience from the Bundesliga and his time at Viborg, where he sought a new challenge and took it up excellently in a different environment. In the conversations, he has conveyed to us from the beginning that he has great enthusiasm for VfL and identifies fully with the way we want to go." Mbom said about his transfer: "It means a lot to me to return to Germany after my time in Denmark and to play for VfL in the future. For my family and me, this is something very special. I am very grateful for the trust of the responsible people, so that I have the opportunity to show myself here. I will give everything – for the club, for the staff and of course for our fans."
