VfL Bochum is consistently building its squad for the 2. Bundesliga and has signed Yigit Karademir, a 22-year-old defender. The player joins free from Drittliga newcomer VfL Osnabrück and has signed a three-year contract at Castroper Straße. Karademir was born in Nordhorn and began his football training at SV Meppen before moving to the youth department of FC Schalke 04 in 2019.

After two years in the U19 team of VfL Osnabrück, he was promoted to the professional squad in 2023. During a loan spell at SV Meppen in the Regionalliga Nord, he gained initial experience at the senior level. Last season, he celebrated the title and promotion to the 3. Liga with Osnabrück. Additionally, he made his debut for the Turkish U20 national team in March 2025.

VfL Bochum's transfer strategy has a clear focus: the emphasis is on young, developing players from the lower German leagues who can be acquired for free. At 22 years old, Karademir is the youngest of the five new signings and brings valuable experience from the 3. Liga. Whether he can establish himself as a regular starter or will initially be planned as a backup will be revealed during the preparation.
